Acrylic Sealer

Preserve the life of your driveway with imprinted concrete and block paving sealers

Block paving and imprinted concrete driveways are now very popular but, like anything that is exposed to the elements, they do looking after to minimise signs of wear and tear and degradation. Using a suitable block paving sealer or concrete sealer can help alleviate these issues and ensure your driveway, paths or patio remain looking as good as they did when you bought them.

Concrete drives, pathways and patios suffer from similar problems to block paving including weeds, algae and moss, stains from oil and other substances and abrasion. Additionally, concrete can suffer from water ingress and also frost damage can cause flaking of the surface. Applying a concrete sealer can help alleviate all of these problems.

Block paving will over time suffer from weed growth due to a breakdown in the jointing sand, algae and moss due to moisture build up and oil stains from vehicles. All these can have a significant impact on the look of the block paving and oils stains can be especially difficult to remove, so it is important to use a block paving sealer early on to protect your driveway.

ACRYLIC SEALER KEY BENEFITS:
  • Enchances the surface appearance
  • Protects the concrete or block paved surface
  • Prevents dirt build up
  • Resists moss, algae and oil stains
APPLICATIONS:
  • Newly installed pattern imprinted concrete
  • Existing concrete and block paving surfaces
INSTALLATION

The surface should not be sealed until the concrete is 14 days old. Immature concrete has a high water content which may interfere with the bond.

Ensure the concrete is clean and free from debris. The surface must be completely dry with no rain forcast for at least 4 hours.

Where concrete has been pattern imprinted all the release agent must be removed to prevent the sealer de-bonding from the concrete. Throughly brush the concrete and then jet wash the surface, next a pre-seal wash should be applied and vigourously brushed in. Leave to act for 30 minutes and then remove by jet washing.

Application by spray offers greater coverage but a brush and roller may also be used. Keep a soft brush at hand to remove any over spray. The sealer should be applied in two thin coats, paying particular attention on coat two to missed areas. If using a matt sealer ensure the product is well stirred before application begins. You are permitted to walk on the concrete after 12 hours and drive after 24 hours. An anti-slip additive can be applied, consisting of small, hard beads, its mixed in with the sealer and helps create a slip-free surface.

Wash any equipment in a Xylene solvent.

CONTRACTOR INFORMATION

Coverage is between 4-6m2 per litre depending on porosity. Typically one 25litre drum will cover 100m2. The product can be thinned by up to 50%, especially useful for the first coat where it assists penetration providing a better bond.

HEALTH & SAFETY

The sealer is highly flammable and should not be exposed to naked flames. See the Health and Safety data sheet download.
